Lady English

A congenial English rose with a Caribbean twist. That's Lady English! 'Keeping the Vibe Alive', is her motto and one that she continuously lives by. Its meaning is about the vitality of life and music - and the goal? To keep this positive energy at the forefront of our minds in everything we do.

Born in London and raised in Birmingham by her Jamaican grandparents, she relocated to Miami in 2000, to be closer to her father who is a record producer. Several years later - as a freelance writer with various publications here and abroad, she has had the opportunity to interview the likes of Reggae Grammy nominees Freddie McGregor and Beres Hammond, and former winners Shaggy and Beenie Man. Also in keeping with ‘something for everybody’, she has also interviewed and interacted with others such as the Gargamel - Buju Banton, legendary roots band - Culture, the Prophet – Capleton, the recently deceased South African activist, Lucky Dube, and a whole bunch of others in between!

"I never knew that I had such a passion for writing about reggae music," she says. "Considering that it wasn't something I pursued in college, it proves that when you really have a desire to achieve something, it can be done."

And it doesn't stop there! For the last six years, Lady E. can be heard on South Florida's Hot 105 radio station (105.1fm) every Saturday night between 10:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. where she co-hosts the Reggae Runnins program with mentor, Tanto Irie, providing entertainment news in the ‘What’s the Word’ segment, and assisting in keeping the Irie One in line!

Walking in the right direction, the road continues to be filled with challenges, but wonderful opportunities for the always-smiling Brit Chick.

"It's growing now - reggae music that is - and I'm happy to be a part of that growth in any way possible. The prospects are endless, and we must take advantage of the opportunities to educate, inform and entertain people all over the world.”
